Move Documents from the Folders Automatically When the Document is Moved from a Category
Currently, if you move a document from a Category or a search result, the "link" (for lack of a better term) to the document that is in the yellow folder in the workspace remains in the old workspace... show more
My understanding is that the documents showing in the yellow folders are basically permanent links to the actual documents. It is very confusing to most of our users that the documents do not move from the yellow folders when they move the documents. Unfortunately, a good number of our users prefer to work out of the Document Category and, therefore, that is where they move documents from. Additionally, we have instances where there is work done on a file before the workspace is created in NetDocs and frequently this work is done by more than one person (each person will temporarily file the docuemnts in their individual WIP workspaces). When the workspace is opened in NetDocs, the lead secretary will run a search for anything for that client and move the documents into the newly created workspace. However, since the move is made from a search result, the documents are not removed from the yellow folders in the old workspaces. It would be better if the system automatically moved the "links" to the document or atleast created a pop-up asking if you wanted to remove the links from the old workspace.

Require a Document Type When Moving a Document
Currently, when you save or import a document, you are required to save it to a folder within a workspace or give it a document type and NetDocs will create a folder for the document... show more
However, if you move a document already saved in one workspace to another workspace either by dragging and dropping or File in Folder and you put the document at the main workspace, you are not prompted to give a document type or required to file the document in an existing folder. This is creating some issues because some people at our office continually move files this way and, therefore, some of the documents are in folders and some are not which creates problems when they go back later to open the document. Additionally, if the document is required to be saved into a folder or given a document type, the document will show up almost immediately in the yellow folder even though it sometimes takes several minutes for it to show up in the Documents Category. It is also confusing because it is inconsistent with the process for saving or importing documents.

See a Workspace's Categories in the Navigation Tree for Workspace
Is it possible to list the categories in a workspace in the navagation tree the same as the yellow folders? The reason this would be helpful is that large workspaces are slow to open... show more
Therefore, if you want to only look at the category for documents, e-mails, or a category you created specifically for that workspace, you have to go to the main workspace. However, if the categories listed like the yellow folders in the navigation tree, then you could go straight to a category.

Archiving E-mails in Outlook
We have changed our archiving in Outlook to the "move the item to the ND-Archived folder tree and replace attachments with a link" option. We changed to this method of archiving to keep the size of e-mails lower so we can keep the e-mails in the Outlook archive folders without using as much server space... show more
The only problem with this option is that there is no longer a paperclip icon on the e-mail in Outlook to denote that there is an attachment to the e-mail. This means that you have to either open each e-mail to see if there is an attachment or have the reading pane turned on. We would like to see some icon (paperclip or otherwise) remain on the e-mails in Outlook so you can easily determine if there is an attachment on an e-mail in an archived folder in Outlook.

Add Ability to Search for E-mails To or From a Person in one search
I would like to have the ability to search for e-mails that are both to or from a particular person in one search. Currently, you can only search by to in one search and have to perform a second search for from... show more
Since there is no option to sort e-mails by to or from (which is the fastest way to locate e-mails to or from a person), this seems the next most reasonable way to find those e-mails without having to perform two separate searches. This might also solve some of the problems associated with not being able to sort by to and from.

Add Options to Save as New Version Closing a Word Document
I would like to see a "Save as New Version" option appear when you close a Word document (i.e. click on the x at the top right). This would save the extra step you have when you use Save As to save the document as a new version of then having to actually close the document after it is saved as a new version... show more
Currently, if you close the document, you get a pop up that asks if you want to save the changes to the document and the choices are yes, no, and cancel. Maybe if you click on yes, another pop up could appear asking if you want to save as a new version or replace the original document?

Extra Matters List
Is there any way to have more than one My Matters list? I know a lot of secretaries work for more than one attorney and, although you can have separate sections on your home page for each attorney, there is no way to separate them in the matters list... show more
The reason I ask is that we have found it is much quicker to access workspaces by using the matter tree and going directly to the folder you need within a works space than to open the workspace which usually takes a lot longer (especially in a heavy litigation case). Of course, I don't know how this would mess with the integration with Outlook.

Word "Insert File" Integration with NetDocs
I would like to be able to integrate the "Insert File" option in Word to default to NetDocs or have an option to get the file from NetDocs. For instance, we have secretaries who use the "Insert File" option to insert forms into case style forms... show more
Currently, the Insert File opens our old drives on our servers. However, at some point those drives will be restricted so only admin can access them. If you want to insert a form into a case style document in NetDocs, you have to first go the the workspace with the case style and open the document, then you have to go into the workspace with your forms and open the form, then highlight the form and copy and past it into your case style document. This is a lot more time consuming than being able to open the case style document, click on Insert File and click on the form name you want to insert. Is there any way to integrate this into NetDocs (or maybe you can already do it and we just don't know how)?

Search Default to Client/Matter Workspace you are in
I think that when you are in a client/matter workspace and click on Search, the search page should be defaulted to show the client and matter number fields for the workspace you are in... show more
Currently, if you have done a search recently, it will default to your last search or you must open a category or folder in that workspace for the client/matter numbers to be in the corresponding fields on the search page. This change would save time because it would eliminate a step.
NetDocuments Feedback :Kathy: I assume you are aware when you use the search field on the top right corner of a workspace, it will search all content within that workspace, i.e., that client and matter--by default. Does that solve the need or do you want to go to Advanced Search page for other profile field searches?

Opening Yellow Folders Should put Workspace in Recent Matters
Currently, if you use the tree to navigate directly to a folder within a workspace and open that folder, the client/matter for that folder is not put in your Recent Matters (I read somewhere that it does, but it does not)... show more
Unfortunately, we have found that some workspaces, especially litigation matters, take so long to open that it is much quicker to use the tree and navigate directly to the folder within that workspace. However, this does not put the workspace matter into the Recent Matters. It would be a great help if it put that workspace at the top of your Recent Matters list the same as if you opened the main workspace page.

Adding To and From Columns in the E-Mail Category and Folder as a Default Setting
Although you can add "to" and "from" columns to your e-mail category and folder, it can only be seen from the main workspace page. As soon as you open the category or folder, the "To" and "From" columns disappear... show more
You can use "define display format" to add a sent by column which you can sort by, but you cannot add a "sent to" column (or at least I haven't found one). However, using the define display format changes your settings globally and therefore you then show a modified by column in the same position in all other folders. Since the main ways you sort documents and e-mails are different, you don't necessarily want this change to be global. Additionally, since the main way you find an e-mail you are looking for is by sorting by date, to, or from, it only makes sense that these columns should be part of the default setup for the e-mail Category (not other categories). Basically, as long as you cannot sort by both to and from within the Netdocs category or folder, we have to keep our archived e-mails in the archived folders in Outlook until the matter is closed in order to be able to efficiently access the e-mails. It would be a major improvement if this change was implemented.

Increase 500 Document Limit
The 500 document limit when you open a category or folder is too small. In any decent sized litigation case, you are going to have more then 500 documents, especially e-mails... show more
While you can somewhat solve the problem with documents by creating the folders and then subfolders, it is much more difficult to do this with e-mails. Additionally, the number of e-mails in a ligitation matter can surpass 500 in no time. If the size limit cannot be increased, another solution would be to have a "Next 500" button.
NetDocuments Feedback :The NetDocuments search engine has the ability to return more than 500 hits, but displaying more than 500 at a time is not possible (and would be too slow anyway). One possibility would be to continue to display 20 documents at a time but allow the Next link to be clicked beyond the first 500 documents. If we did this, the Sort and View All options would have to be removed for search results that returned more than 500 hits. Is that acceptable?
It would be helpful to us if you could help us understand via your comments why it would be helpful to return more than 500 hits and how they would be used. Our usage statistics show that users very rarely view more than 80 hits when a search returns 500 or more, so were unclear on why displaying more than 500 is considered so important.

EMS - ND View
I would like to go back to when you click on NDView in Outlook, you are taken to a separate browser page opened to that client/matter in NetDocs. It used to be like this, but the last update changed it so that it opens the client/matter workspace in Outlook... show more
I found that the way NDView used to work was a great way for my attorney (who does not really use NetDocs) to get into NetDocs. Now, it is more steps for him to access NetDocs. Additionally, I don't particularly like the view of the workspace within Outlook. Maybe there could be a NDView and NDGo To buttons?
