In prior OS versions, the user simply hit the "save to ND" button and was immediately taken to the "add new document" profiling screen within ND. Now after pushing this button in Acrobat Pro 8 or 9, the user is immediately presented with a security warning about multiple locations attempting to access the subject document. The user clicks yes and is then presented with a second message that tells the user to close the document and then swith to the browser to complete the import process. The problem is that a split second later, the browser pops up front and center. Now the user must "Alt-Tab" back to Acrobat, click the [Ok] button, close the document, "Alt-Tab" back to the browser and continue to import the document. The increased complexity, number of clicks and amount of time it takes to now successfully import a acrobat file into ND is not going over well with our user base. show comments

en importing documents into netdocs, the user is brought to the "Import Docs From Your PC" screen. The space provided for the workspace list could be enlarged 1) horizontally - so that users with "many" work spaces can see a larger list and spend less time scrolling up and down the list; and 2) vertically - so that users with long-ish matter names do not have to scroll left / right to see the entire matter description show comments

Maybe we put “ - Click here to display previous list –“ at the top of each list after a user has left the first list.

This would be helpful for a field like "Doc Type", which in our organization link to a retention rule. show comments

This would be useful for metadata that would never be used for searching. One positive in hiding the profile field is that users are not able to alter it (since we don't currently have the ability to designate a field as "read only"). show comments

Include a "tag cloud" for easy searching of documents with one or multiple tags. show comments

I was told that there is an option to NOT unfile the original documents when Folder Filing from the workspace, but that option does not exist from the search menu. And so 1,000 documents need to be manually reprofiled, with no record in the history as to what the original profile data was.

I think that there should be a highly visible option to unfile the originals no matter what screen you are doing it from. I also think that unfiling should not be the default, as it is much easier to go back and unfile the originals rather than having to try to figure out how to get the originals back. show comments

This seems rather a roundabout way of getting this done. Same for creating security templates. It would be much easier to have a menu bar option entitled Create Profile/Security Templates. Also, once a user has created their templates, the option of Apply Security Template should be at the profile screen as Apply Profile Template currently is. Thank you.

Some attributes must not inadvertently or otherwise be updated, for folders or documents, whilst others must be open to any user to change. Locking certain fields would allow this.
By way of background, we use folder-based profiling. The profile information is inherited from the folder, so all our general users have to do to profile a document is drop it into a particular folder. We have an administrator who sets up the folder profiles.
We also have some attributes we'd like our general users to update (e.g. if they've dealt with a document they could update a "dealt with" custom profile field.) However, the core attributes (like matter reference) must be protected from update - if they are changed, the document is essentially lost.
This is so serious that we don't generally encourage users to touch the profiling screen, it's too easy to make a mistake indavertently. However, if we could protect some profile fields and assign special user authority to update these, the problem would be solved.
I imaging this could be readily achieved by an additional setting in the Define Profile Attributes admin screen (and "locked profile attribute editor" user group settings) show comments

We have had several situatiosn where users have saved a documents under the wrong client-matter number and then they can't get the back - without intervention. Since security is already assigned in the profile table, why doesn't Netdocs validate the security when saving the document, and prevent users from losing access to their own document? show comments

At this point, you cannot choose any profiling information during the review… you can only change the name of the document. I would love to be able to type in profile field info (for instance, Client and Matter) right from the Review window as well. Thanks! show comments

It would be nice to have the option to add clients and matters one at a time through a simpler process inside ND.
